Last week I had to pick up a lens that was getting repaired in Sacramento. Going into Sacramento or any city for that matter for me equals – what new food place can I check out and are there any clothing stores nearby? You would think pigging out and fashion wouldn’t really go together, but for me they do.

The day before I chatted up my go-to person for awesome food places in Sacramento (hi David!) he suggested I check out The Porch. After looking at their menu of southern comfort food I was sold. I typed in the address into my gps app Waze and off I went…P.S. Does anyone remember a time with out gps? I think way, way back in the day like 3 years ago there were these things called maps. Or using common sense. Now I’m completely at the mercy of my iPhone. And lets face it we fight sometimes…

After carefully studying the menu I decided on the BBQ Shrimp ‘n Grits which also included a piece of perfectly crisp bacon. The grits were smooth and made extra creamy by the gouda cheese they add in for a special kick. I also added on one of their home made buttermilk biscuits. If Heaven were a biscuit those were it. Soft, flaky, tender and were accompanied with honey butter. In retrospect I could have just ordered a plate of those and would have been more than happy.
